Is FitNotes on iPhone?

• 3 min read • By Plates

You may have heard people online talking about FitNotes, how it’s a fantastic free workout tracker. You then opened the App Store on your iPhone, typed in “FitNotes” and ended up wondering: “Which FitNotes is the real one?”. The answer is none of them. When people online praise FitNotes, they mean James Gay’s Android app.

The developer notes it exactly in the FAQ of the FitNotes website themselves:

Is FitNotes available for iOS?

FitNotes is only available for Android devices and there aren't any plans to develop an iOS/iPhone version at the moment unfortunately. Sorry about that!

What are all these FitNotes variants I’m seeing on the App Store?

You may naturally be wondering, then why are there all of these “FitNotes” apps on the App Store? Simply put they’re using the FitNotes name so confused switchers land on them.

AppDeveloperWhat it is
FitNotes (Android)James GayFree, no ads, the original
FitNotes (iPhone)Evgeny UralskySame name, different app, includes a subscription. It’s not affiliated with James’ work.
FitNotes 2 (iPhone)Ginger TechnologiesStill not affiliated with the original FitNotes. It can import Android data. 12 workouts free, then $45.

FitNotes 2’s App Store listing still opens with lines like “FitNotes is now on iOS!”. That reads like James shipped an official iPhone version. He absolutely did not. It’s a completely unrelated developer with a different product and values.

What do I do then?

You’re probably at a crossroads now. You know the “real” FitNotes is not on the iPhone, but you still want something like it. Here are your options as we see it:

You have years of FitNotes history that you want to preserve

If you have years of FitNotes history you don’t want to part with, then try FitNotes 2. Just know it will cost you $45 and it is not affiliated with James.
